Francis Lafrenière claimed the vacant NABA Gold Light Heavyweight Championship on June 27 with a unanimous decision victory over former world champion Jean Pascal at Colisée de Laval, Quebec, Canada.

Fighting in front of his hometown fans, Lafrenière set the pace throughout the 10-round contest with relentless pressure and effective inside work. He punctuated his performance by scoring a knockdown in the eighth round before earning the unanimous verdict, with all three judges scoring the bout 96-93 in his favor.

The victory crowned Lafrenière as the new NABA Gold Light Heavyweight champion and added another milestone to the veteran Canadian’s career, while earning one of the most significant wins over a former world champion
